About the Mercedes-Benz SLC C107

The Mercedes-Benz SLC C107 was the coupé interpretation of the 107 Series. Although it shared many technical and styling elements with the R107 roadster, it featured a longer wheelbase, fixed roof and rear seating, giving it a distinct identity within the model range.

Its configuration was developed for grand touring, with additional interior space and a closed body easily recognized by the louvred rear side windows. The range included the 280 SLC, 350 SLC and 450 SLC, followed by the 380 SLC and 500 SLC. The exclusive 450 SLC 5.0 introduced an aluminium-block V8 engine together with several weight-saving measures.

SLC production ended in 1981 and did not continue alongside the R107 during the roadster’s final years. This separate development makes it important to distinguish between the two body styles when searching for instructions, equipment details or information applicable to a particular 107 Series vehicle.
