About the Mercedes-Benz SLK R170

The Mercedes-Benz R170 was introduced in 1996 as the first generation of the SLK, a compact roadster that combined sporty proportions with one of its most distinctive technical features: the retractable Vario hardtop. This system allowed the car to be used either as an open roadster or as a closed coupé, making it one of the defining elements of the model.

The range included versions such as the SLK 200, SLK 200 Kompressor, SLK 230 Kompressor, SLK 320 and AMG variants, depending on year and market.
