About the Mercedes-Benz CLK C208 and A208

Introduced in 1997, the Mercedes-Benz CLK established a new coupe line combining technical foundations related to the C-Class with styling inspired by the E-Class. The range began with the C208 Coupe and expanded in 1998 with the A208 Cabriolet, equipped with a power-operated fabric roof.

The series was offered with four-cylinder Kompressor engines, V6 powertrains and V8 versions. The CLK 55 AMG headed the performance range with specific modifications to the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and exterior design.

The 1999 model revision introduced visible and technical changes to numerous components, including equipment, safety systems and the engine range. There are also body-specific differences between the Coupe and Cabriolet, making it important to identify the body style, year and version before selecting a manual.
