About the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202

Introduced in 1993 as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz 190 W201, the W202 was the first generation officially marketed under the C-Class name. It retained the compact rear-wheel-drive saloon concept while providing more interior space, greater comfort and additional safety features.

The range included petrol and diesel engines, Kompressor versions and, during its later years, CDI powertrains. Classic, Esprit, Elegance and Sport equipment lines were offered, together with high-performance AMG variants such as the C 36 AMG and C 43 AMG.

The 1997 model revision introduced changes to the design, safety systems, equipment and engine range. Differences between the two production stages make it advisable to check the year, engine and exact configuration before selecting the corresponding manual.
