About the Mercedes-Benz 190 W201

Introduced in 1982, the Mercedes-Benz 190 W201 established a new compact-saloon category within the brand. Popularly known as the “Baby Benz”, it brought the construction quality, safety, comfort and durability associated with larger Mercedes-Benz models to a smaller automobile.

The W201 introduced a multi-link rear suspension developed to improve stability and handling. The range included 190, 190 E and 190 D versions with different petrol and diesel engines, together with performance variants such as the 190 E 2.3-16 and 2.5-16.

The 1988 model revision introduced new exterior elements, side protection panels, interior improvements and changes to the equipment and engine range. These differences make it important to check the engine, production year and exact configuration before selecting the corresponding manual.
