About the Mercedes-Benz SLK R171

Introduced in 2004 as the second generation of the SLK, the Mercedes-Benz R171 retained the compact two-seat roadster concept with a retractable hardtop. Its more sporting design featured a front section inspired by the brand's competition cars and an evolution of the Vario roof system.

The rear-wheel-drive range offered four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines, together with manual gearboxes and automatic transmissions. One of its most distinctive options was AIRSCARF, a system designed to direct warm air around the occupants' necks while driving with the roof open.

The model revision presented in late 2007 for the 2008 production stage introduced design changes, new infotainment systems and numerous technical modifications. These differences, together with the range of engines and equipment available, make it important to identify the exact year and version before selecting its documentation.
